Sage is a staple herb in various cuisines around the world. Other names include 'common sage' and 'garden sage'. It belongs to the mint family, alongside other herbs like oregano, rosemary, basil and thyme. The soft leaves of sage, when dried, add fresh flavours of pepper and balsamic. It can be used as a rub for meats or seasoning vegetables but we love it in simple pasta dishes! Sage has also been used for its medicinal properties as it is said to be very good for the brain. Store in an airtight container in a cool and dry place.
