Washing soda is a type of salt that can be used to make natural soaps and detergents. It is a pH balancer/alkaliser. It is also great for removing heavy grease from pots, pans, stoves, oven racks, as well as removing certain stains, such as tea and coffee, from surfaces such as ceramic and plastic. It works great for soap scum removal in your bathroom too! It can also be used to remove stains from clothes! Add 1/2 a cup for a regular cycle and 1 cup for a big cycle, along with your regular washing detergent. For fresh stains, you can also help to remove by making a paste using washing soda and hot water. Using gloves, gently rub the paste into the garment and leave for a few minutes to set in, then gently rub again with a little more hot water. Then place in the laundry machine along with 1/2 a cup of washing soda. Avoid contact with your eyes and use gloves. Store in an airtight container and keep in a cool, dry place.
