Iron and Calcium Smoothie

by @daisy_scoopwholefoods

There are many healthy and nourishing foods that are high in iron and calcium. This smoothie is great during pregnancy, breastfeeding or for those that need a good iron or calcium boost. Women’s breast milk always contains the same amount of calcium no matter what their circumstances or diet. This means our body will extract it from wherever it can, even our bones. There is no way to replenish this once it has been removed, causing osteoporosis and other bone issues later in life. Keeping your calcium high during pregnancy and breast feeding is vital. Vitamin C helps you absorb more iron from your foods too, so this smoothie combination of iron, calcium and vitamin C is a real winner. It’s also high in fibre which is vital during pregnancy.
