Lupin is one of the world’s richest sources of protein and fibre. This Australian grown legume is gluten-free, low GI and made up of only 4% carbohydrates. High in prebiotic fibre for a healthy gut, and also rich in magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron. Lupin flakes are perfect for crumbing chicken, tofu and vegetables. These healthy flakes also make a great replacement for rice. To prepare, add 1 cup lupin flakes into a pot with 3 cups water (or stock) and bring to a simmer. Stir frequently for about 20 minutes, or until it turns into a porridge-like consistency and season. We recommend to throw in a little of our garlic or onion powder during the cooking process as lupin flakes have only a mild flavour. Enjoy as a side with meat or simply have on its own topped with roasted veggies. We recommend to pre-soak them in water before cooking for a minimum of 1 hour for easier digestion if your gut is sensitive to legumes. The great thing about lupin flakes is that they fill you up like carbs but have hardly any carbs in them at all, making them great for weight loss. Store dry lupin flakes in an airtight container in a cool and dry place.
